The Ventura County Library System maintains 11 branches in the cities of Ventura, Ojai, Fillmore, Port Hueneme, and in several unincorporated communities. The E.P. Foster Library in downtown Ventura hosts an extensive newspaper microfilm collection.
The City of Camarillo has its own library with a collection of more than 270,000 items. The Ventura County Genealogical Society's library collection is housed at the Camarillo Library.
The Library of the City of Thousand Oaks has more than 370,000 items at two locations. It houses the collection of the Conejo Valley Genealogical Society at the Grant R. Brimhall location.
Blanchard has been Santa Paula's Community Library for 100 years. It is affiliated with the BlackGold Library System.

The Museum of Ventura County Research Library houses more than 150,000 resources pertaining to the history of Ventura County. The collection does not circulate; however, some resources are available online.
