The VCGS Mexican-American Special Interest Group meets to discuss historical literature, research strategies and current information pertaining to Mexican-American Genealogy. We strive to encourage our members to assist one another, as well as the general public in learning about family history. Members and attendees are encouraged to propose topics for discussion and to share ideas and knowledge in Mexican-American genealogy so that we can grow as a group.
Our meetings are open to the public and you don’t have to be a VCGS member to attend. We currently meet six times a year on zoom, The meetings are held in odd months of the year, (January, March, May, July, September, and November) on the first Saturday of the month.
We do not meet today. Our next meeting will take place via Zoom on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 10:00 a.m to 11:30 a.m.
To request to attend our meeting please contact Juan Venegas @ jvenegasgenealogy@gmail.com or Nancy Lehnhardt @ nancylgenealogy@gmail.com
Open to the Public @ the Camarillo Library. Membership in VCGS not required. Join us for help or to offer help to someone else. Bring your research questions and a description of the research that you have already done. General questions and topics for discussion are always welcome. To commemorate the 82nd anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941, Shirley Leslie will lead the group in a discussion of how WWII impacted our families.
[This meeting will be held in person at the Camarillo Public Library Community Room. All our workshops are open to our members and the public.]
SHOW us your favorite ways to celebrate your year-end holidays – Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Year’s, Boxing Day – with decorations, recipes, photos, customs, etc., and TELL us stories of the memories you smile about the most. (BTW, did you know there are at least 11 holidays celebrated in December?)
[This meeting will be held online with Zoom and an invitation will be sent out to the VCGS Weds Workshop Googlegroup email discussion group prior to the meeting. If you are not already on the email discussion group you may contact the webmaster at webmaster@venturacogensoc.org to be added. All our workshops are open to our members and the public.]
