“Ghosts of Christmas Past: Traditions of our Ancestors”
This program connects some of our more common traditions in the United States to their beginnings during the time of our ancestors of various cultures and countries. As appropriate and able, it also introduces audience members to related hymns, some of which are rarely sung in the 21st Century. While appropriate for all ages, some of the history may get tiring for very young children.
Jean Wilcox Hibben; PhD, MA, former So. Cal. college speech professor (MA – Speech Communication; PhD – Folklore), is a national speaker and author. A member of the DAR, she is the former director and current staff trainer for the Corona, CA Family History Center, has worked on background research for two genealogy television programs, and hosts podcasts, with a couple of other genealogists, under the moniker Genealogy Journeys® (https://genjourneys.podbean.com). With over 40 years of research experience, she is a former board member of APG and past president of its So. Cal. Chapter, president of the Corona Gen. Society as well as webmaster for that same organization, and has participated on a number of other society boards. Her website: circlemending.org.

“Self-Publishing for Genealogists and Genealogy Societies”
Learn the ins and outs of the self-publishing world including vendors and providers, the self-publishing process and even how to format your printed work for e-book selling. Both genealogists and genealogical societies can benefit greatly from the “print on demand” methodology which is revolutionizing the publishing world.
Thomas MacEntee is a professional genealogist specializing in the use of technology and social media to improve genealogical research and as a means of interacting with others in the family history community. What happens when a “tech guy” with a love for history gets laid off during The Great Recession of 2008? You get me, Thomas MacEntee, a genealogy professional who’s also a blogger, educator, author, social media connector, marketer, network builder and more. Thomas was laid off after a 25-year career in the information technology field, so he started his own genealogy-related business called High Definition Genealogy. Currently Thomas shares many of his articles and videos for free at GenealogyBargains.com! “I’m a lifelong learner with a background in a multitude of topics and I’ve finally figured out what I do best: teach, inspire, instigate, and serve as a curator and go-to-guy for concept nurturing and inspiration. I believe in success, and that we all succeed when we help each other find success. I see things differently than most in the genealogy field; I’m almost never content with the status quo. That doesn’t mean I chase after change just for the sake of change; but when I see an opportunity to improve something and to bring more people into the genealogy sphere, that’s where you’ll find me.”
